Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided

4 cloves garlic, minced

Zest of 1 lemon

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup chicken broth

1/4 cup heavy cream

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon slices (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Chicken:

    - Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel and lightly pound them to an even thickness for uniform cooking. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

      Dredge in Flour:

        - Place the flour in a shallow dish and coat each chicken breast in flour, shaking off any excess.

          Heat the Skillet:

            - In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add 1 tablespoon of butter.

              Cook the Chicken:

                - Add the chicken breasts to the skillet and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.

                  Make the Zesty Lemon Sauce:

                    - In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

                      - Stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan.

                        Add Broth & Cream:

                          - Pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a gentle simmer. Let it reduce for about 2 minutes before adding the heavy cream. Stir well to combine, and let it cook for another minute to thicken slightly.

                            Combine and Serve:

                              - Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat the chicken through and meld the flavors.

                                Garnish and Plate:

                                  - Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley and lemon slices. Serve immediately with your choice of sides like rice, pasta, or steamed vegetables.
