Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 tbsp cornstarch

1 cup water

1 tsp vanilla extract

¼ tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

¼ tsp nutmeg

1 ½ cups milk

Fresh fruit (optional, for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). This ensures that your pie crust will be perfectly flaky.

Prepare the Pie Crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the softened butter, mixing until the mixture is crumbly. Add 3-4 tablespoons of cold water, one at a time, until the dough forms a ball. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to fit your pie pan. Place it in the pan, trimming the edges.

Make the Filling: In a large saucepan over medium heat, mix the water, granulated sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir frequently until the mixture begins to thicken and bubble, about 5-7 minutes.

Combine with Milk: Once the mixture is thickened, gradually incorporate the milk, continuing to stir for another 5 minutes until everything is well combined and the mixture is creamy.

Fill the Crust: Pour the filling directly into the prepared pie crust, smoothing it out evenly with a spatula.

Bake: Place the pie into the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set.

Cool and Serve: Allow the pie to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing. Optionally, top with fresh fruit for a pop of color and flavor.

Enjoy: Serve the Water Pie Revival with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top or a scoop of ice cream for an elevated dessert experience!
