Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey

1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped

1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped

1 tablespoon fresh thyme, leaves only

Zest of 1 lemon

2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

1 clove garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for binding)

4 whole wheat hamburger buns

Lettuce leaves (for serving)

Sliced tomatoes (for serving)

Avocado slices (for serving)

Extra lemon wedges (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, parsley, basil, thyme, lemon zest, lemon juice, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. If your mixture seems too loose, add breadcrumbs gradually until you achieve a consistency that holds together well.

Shape the Burgers: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty, approximately 1/2 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Preheat the Grill/Pan: Heat your grill or non-stick skillet over medium heat. If using a grill, make sure it's well-oiled to prevent sticking.

Cook the Burgers: Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 5-6 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

Toast the Buns: While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the whole wheat hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden.

Assemble the Burgers: Place each turkey patty on a toasted bun. Layer with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, and avocado. Add extra lemon wedges on the side for an added zesty touch.

Serve: Enjoy your delicious Tender Lemon Herb Turkey Burgers immediately!
