Ingredients

For the apple filling:

6 medium-sized Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

For the oat topping:

1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Prepare the Apples:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Toss well to ensure the apples are evenly coated. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

      Make the Oat Topping:

In a separate bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture is crumbly and all dry ingredients are moistened.

          Assemble the Crisp:

Evenly distribute the oat topping over the apple mixture in the baking dish, ensuring all the apples are covered.

              Bake:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the apple crisp for 35-40 minutes, or until the apples are bubbly and the topping is golden brown.

                  Cool and Serve:

Once out of the oven, allow the sweet apple crisp to cool for about 10 minutes to set. Serve warm, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for extra indulgence.
