1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

1 cup fresh basil leaves, loosely packed

1 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed, about 4-6 lemons)

1 cup granulated sugar (adjust for desired sweetness)

4 cups cold water

Ice cubes

Lemon slices, for garnish

Prepare the Strawberry-Basil Syrup: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sliced strawberries, basil leaves, and sugar. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, mashing the strawberries lightly with a fork until they release their juices and the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let it steep for 15 minutes to enhance the flavors.

    Strain the Syrup: After steeping, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or pitcher, pressing down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the leftover solids.
