Ingredients

14 oz firm tofu, pressed and diced into bite-sized cubes

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)

½ teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons cornstarch

Cooking spray or olive oil for greasing

Optional garnish: chopped green onions and sesame seeds

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray or olive oil.

Prepare the Tofu: After pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture, cut it into bite-sized cubes. This helps the tofu absorb flavors and achieve the best crispy texture.

Marinate: In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, sriracha, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. Add the diced tofu into the bowl and gently toss to coat all the pieces evenly. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes for the flavors to permeate.

Coat with Cornstarch: After marinating, sprinkle the cornstarch over the tofu pieces. Gently toss to ensure that every piece is evenly coated. This step will add an extra crunch when baked.

Arrange on Baking Sheet: Spread the coated tofu cubes on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they are not touching for optimal crispiness.

Bake the Tofu: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping the cubes halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.

Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove the tofu bites from the oven. For an added touch, sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds on top. Serve your spicy crispy baked tofu bites hot, either as a snack or as part of a meal!
