Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

⅓ cup unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ cup sour cream

⅓ cup milk

2 tbsp granulated sugar (for topping)

1 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease it lightly.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 1 tsp of ground cinnamon. Set aside.

Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and ¾ cup granulated sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

Incorporate the Egg and Vanilla: Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.

Add the Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream and milk. Start and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Prepare the Topping: In a small bowl, combine the remaining 2 tbsp of granulated sugar with 1 tsp of ground cinnamon. Set aside.

Fill the Muffin Tin: Spoon the muffin batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each liner about ¾ full.

Sprinkle the Cinnamon Sugar: Generously sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top of each muffin.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve: Let the muffins cool in the tin for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
