8 oz spaghetti or linguine

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup olive oil

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

Zest of 1 lemon

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti or linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

    Prepare the Shrimp: While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1 minute or until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

      Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.
