Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

3 cups broccoli florets

1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (any color)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch piece ginger, grated

3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium recommended)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for cooking)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sugar (optional)

Cooked jasmine or brown rice, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and cornstarch. Toss well to coat and set aside for about 10 minutes.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and sugar (if using). Set this sauce aside.

Cook Broccoli: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Let it sear for about 1 minute without stirring, then stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through.

Add Aromatics and Veggies: Push the beef to one side of the skillet and add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and sliced bell pepper. Stir-fry together for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Combine Everything: Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet and pour the sauce over the beef and veggies. Toss everything together, ensuring it's evenly coated. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to heat through.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve immediately over cooked jasmine or brown rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
