8 oz spaghetti or linguine

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 cup fresh basil leaves

1/3 cup pine nuts (toasted)

2 cloves garlic

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Lemon wedges for serving

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti or linguine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest and set aside.

    Prepare the Pesto: In a food processor, combine the fresh basil leaves, toasted pine nuts, garlic cloves, and grated Parmesan cheese. Pulse until coarsely blended. While pulsing, slowly add the extra virgin olive oil until a smooth paste forms. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

      Cook the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, drizzle a bit of olive oil. Add the shrimp, seasoning with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove from heat.
