Ingredients

2 pounds chicken drumsticks

1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 teaspoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. This will allow for even cooking and crispiness.

Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, mix together the olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. This will create a flavorful marinade that will enhance the chicken’s taste.

Coat the Drumsticks: Add the chicken drumsticks to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (for enhanced flavor) or up to 4 hours.

Arrange on the Rack: Once marinated, place the drumsticks onto the wire rack in a single layer. This will ensure that they cook evenly and the skin gets nice and crispy.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes. Halfway through, brush the drumsticks with BBQ sauce for that sticky, savory glaze.

Check for Doneness: The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and the skin is crispy and golden brown. If desired, you can turn the broiler on for a couple of minutes at the end to get an extra char.

Rest and Serve: Remove the drumsticks from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving, if desired.

Enjoy: Serve these drumsticks with extra BBQ sauce on the side, alongside your favorite sides like coleslaw, corn on the cob, or baked beans.
