Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 for optimal flavor)

2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 cup uncooked rice (white or brown, depending on your preference)

2 1/2 cups beef broth (or water)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of your favorites)

1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

Optional: Red pepper flakes for a spicy kick

Instructions

Sauté the Beef: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent. Then, add the ground beef, stirring to break it up. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and Italian seasoning.

Add Rice and Broth: Once the beef is cooked, stir in the uncooked rice. Pour in the beef broth, ensuring that the rice is evenly distributed throughout the meat. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.

Incorporate the Broccoli: Once it’s boiling, add the broccoli florets on top of the rice-beef mixture. Do not stir; simply cover the skillet with a lid to steam the broccoli for about 5-7 minutes, or until the broccoli is bright green and tender.

Melt the Cheese: After the broccoli has steamed, remove the lid and turn the heat to low. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top. Cover again and let it sit for an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve: Gently stir everything together, ensuring the cheese, beef, broccoli, and rice are well mixed. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve warm, garnished with additional cheese or red pepper flakes if desired.
