Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

8 ounces linguine or spaghetti

6 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust based on spice preference)

1/2 cup dry white wine or chicken broth

Zest and juice of 1 lemon

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and pepper, to taste

Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the linguine or spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest and set aside.

Prepare the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of the butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing until fragrant (about 1 minute).

Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, pour in the white wine (or chicken broth) and scrape any browned bits from the bottom. Bring to a simmer and let it reduce for about 2-3 minutes. Stir in the lemon juice, zest, and the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter until melted.

Combine Everything: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet along with the drained pasta. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time until the sauce reaches your desired consistency.

Garnish and Serve: Stir in the chopped parsley, adjust seasoning if necessary, and serve immediately with a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
