To fully appreciate our Decadent Fudgy Brownie Bites with Sea Salt, it’s essential to understand the history and evolution of brownies. The origin of brownies is somewhat shrouded in mystery, but most food historians agree that they emerged in the United States in the late 19th century. Some believe that they were created by accident when a baker overlooked adding baking powder to a chocolate cake recipe. This happy mistake resulted in a denser, fudgier treat that would ultimately become one of America’s favorite desserts.

Ingredients

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a mini muffin tin or line with mini muffin liners.

Melt Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, remove it from heat and add the granulated sugar, stirring until well combined.

Mix in Eggs and Vanilla: Let the butter-sugar mixture cool slightly, then whisk in the eggs one at a time. Add the vanilla extract and mix until smooth.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, being careful not to overmix. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips for added fudginess.

Fill Muffin Tin: Using a spoon or cookie scoop, fill each mini muffin cup about three-quarters full with the brownie batter.

Sprinkle Sea Salt: Lightly sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each brownie bite before baking.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking for the best fudgy texture.

Cool: Once baked, remove from the oven and let the brownie bites cool in the pan for about 5 minutes. Carefully transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve & Enjoy: Serve the fudgy brownie bites warm or at room temperature, enjoying the delightful contrast of rich chocolate and a hint of sea salt.
