Ingredients

4 medium ripe pears, sliced thinly (Bartlett or Bosc work great)

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup packed brown sugar (for the topping)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Pinch of salt

Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Prepare Pears: In a large bowl, toss the sliced pears with lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ground ginger until well combined. Arrange the pear mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Make Topping: In a separate bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, 1/3 cup of brown sugar, melted butter, chopped nuts (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix until crumbly.

Assemble: Evenly distribute the oat mixture over the spiced pears in the baking dish, creating a nice topping crust.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the pears are tender and the topping is golden brown and crispy.

Serve: Allow the baked pear crisps to cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Pair with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
