Ingredients

1 pound of beef flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked rice for serving (optional)

Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Scallions, sliced for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced beef with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.

Prepare the Veggies: While the beef is marinating, wash and chop the broccoli florets and slice the red bell pepper. Mince the garlic and grate the fresh ginger, setting them aside for later.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

Sauté the Beef: Add the marinated beef to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes without stirring to allow for a nice sear. Then stir and cook for an additional 2 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, toss in the broccoli florets and sliced bell pepper. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet crisp.

Combine Everything: Return the beef to the skillet with the cooked vegetables. Pour in the remaining 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and the oyster sauce. Stir-fry everything together for another 1-2 minutes until the beef is cooked through and everything is well coated in the sauce.

Finish and Serve: Drizzle with sesame oil, add salt and pepper to taste, and give it one final stir. Serve hot over cooked rice (if desired) and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced scallions for a touch of freshness.
