Ingredients

2 large yellow onions

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp paprika

½ tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Cooking spray or olive oil for misting

Instructions

Prepare the Onions:

    - Peel the onions and slice them into thick rings (about 1/2 inch thick). Separate the rings carefully and set aside.

      Set Up the Dipping Stations:

        - In one bowl, place the flour. In a second bowl, whisk the eggs until well combined. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

          Coat the Onion Rings:

            - Take each onion ring and first coat it in the flour, shaking off any excess.

              - Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, letting any excess egg drip off.

                - Finally, coat it in the seasoned breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs stick well. Repeat with all onion rings.

                  Preheat the Air Fryer:

                    - Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.

                      Air-Fry the Onion Rings:

                        - Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

                          - Place the onion rings in the basket in a single layer, making sure they don’t touch (you may need to do this in batches).

                            - Mist the tops of the onion rings with a little olive oil or cooking spray.

                              Cooking Time:

                                - Air fry the onion rings at 400°F (200°C) for about 10-12 minutes, flipping them halfway through or until they are golden brown and crispy.

                                  Serve:

                                    - Once done, remove the onion rings from the air fryer and let them cool slightly.

                                      - Serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch, spicy mayo, or ketchup.
