Ingredients

1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup cornstarch

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp paprika

1 large egg, beaten

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Vegetable oil, for frying

Honey Garlic Sauce:

1/4 cup honey

2 tbsp soy sauce

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tsp sesame oil (optional)

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken: In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. In another bowl, beat the egg. In a third bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.

Coat the Chicken Bites: Dip each piece of chicken into the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Then dip the chicken into the beaten egg, allowing any excess to drip off before coating it with the panko breadcrumbs. Make sure each piece is well-coated for maximum crispiness.

Fry the Chicken Bites: In a large skillet, heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers. Carefully add the coated chicken pieces in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and crushed red pepper flakes. Stir continuously for about 2-3 minutes until heated through, bringing everything together into a nice sauce.

Toss and Serve: Once all chicken bites are fried, place them into a large bowl, drizzle the honey garlic sauce over them, and toss gently until evenly coated.

Garnish and Enjoy: Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy your crispy honey garlic chicken bites with rice, noodles, or on their own as a delicious appetizer!
