Ingredients

8 oz linguine or spaghetti

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

3 tbsp unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1 cup fresh spinach (optional)

1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the linguine or spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the rest and set aside.

Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the shrimp, seasoning with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they're pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Cream Sauce: In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium-low. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter and the heavy cream, stirring gently to combine with any leftover garlic and shrimp juices. Allow it to simmer for about 2 minutes.

Combine Cheese and Pasta: Gradually stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water, a little at a time, until your desired consistency is reached.

Finish the Dish: If using spinach, stir it into the sauce until wilted. Add the cooked shrimp back into the skillet and toss everything together, allowing it to heat through for about 1-2 minutes. Squeeze in the fresh lemon juice for an extra zing.

Serve: Plate the creamy garlic shrimp pasta and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious meal!
