Classic Tuna Noodle Casserole

12 oz wide egg noodles

2 cans (5 oz each) tuna in water, drained

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

1 cup frozen peas, thawed

1 cup milk

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 cup chopped celery

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup crushed potato chips (for topping)

Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions
 

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

    Cook the Noodles: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

      Sauté Vegetables: In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the chopped onion and celery. Sauté for about 4-5 minutes until they start to soften.

        Mix the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, cream of mushroom soup, milk, thawed peas, sautéed onion and celery, half of the shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Stir well to combine.

          Combine with Noodles: Add the cooked noodles to the tuna mixture and gently fold everything together until fully combined.

            Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the tuna noodle mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread it evenly across the dish.

              Add Toppings: Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top, followed by the crushed potato chips for a delightful crunch.

                Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the casserole is heated through.
