Ingredients

For the Cake:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ cups granulated sugar

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 ½ tsp baking powder

1 ½ tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

2 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

½ cup vegetable oil

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup boiling water

For the Butterfinger Filling:

1 cup creamy peanut butter

½ cup powdered sugar

1 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped to stiff peaks

1 cup Butterfinger candy bars, chopped

For the Frosting:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar

½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

½ cup heavy whipping cream

2 tsp vanilla extract

Extra Butterfinger candy bars, crushed (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Slowly add this mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Add Boiling Water: Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin, but that’s normal!

Bake the Cakes: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Prepare Butterfinger Filling: In a medium bowl, mix together peanut butter and powdered sugar until smooth. Gently fold in the whipped cream until fully incorporated, then add the chopped Butterfinger candy bars. Set aside.

Make the Frosting: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, beating well. Slowly add heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract until the frosting is fluffy and spreadable.

Assemble the Cake: Once the cakes have cooled completely, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread the Butterfinger filling evenly on top. Place the second cake layer on top and cover the entire cake with the chocolate frosting.

Decorate: Finish by sprinkling the top of the cake with crushed Butterfinger candy bars for an extra crunch and a beautiful presentation.

Serve and Enjoy: Slice and serve this decadent Butterfinger Bomb Cake at parties or special occasions, and watch it disappear in no time!
