Ingredients

For the Pie Crust:

1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs

⅓ cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Banana Cream Filling:

2 cups whole milk

½ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup cornstarch

¼ teaspoon salt

4 large egg yolks

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 ripe bananas, sliced

For the Whipped Cream Topping:

1 cup heavy cream

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Fresh banana slices and chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Pie Crust:

    - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

      - In a mixing bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Mix until well combined.

        - Press the crumb mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish.

          - Bake the crust for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely.

            Make the Banana Cream Filling:

              - In a medium saucepan, whisk together the milk, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and salt until well blended.

                - Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble (about 5-7 minutes).

                  - In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Gradually pour in about ½ cup of the hot milk mixture into the egg yolks, whisking constantly to temper the eggs.

                    - Pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan. Continue cooking and stirring for an additional 2-3 minutes until thick and creamy.

                      - Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the butter and vanilla extract until the butter melts completely.

                        - Let the filling cool for a few minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent a skin from forming.

                          Assemble the Pie:

                            - Once the filling has cooled slightly, layer the sliced bananas on the bottom of the cooled pie crust.

                              - Carefully pour the banana cream filling over the bananas, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

                                Make the Whipped Cream Topping:

                                  - In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until soft peaks form.

                                    - Spread the whipped cream over the banana cream filling.

                                      Chill and Serve:

                                        - Cover the pie with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best flavor and texture.

                                          - Before serving, garnish with additional banana slices and chocolate shavings if desired.

Enjoy your delightful slice of Heavenly Banana Cream Pie!
