Ingredients

1 cup ripe bananas (about 2 medium, mashed)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mash Bananas: In a medium bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Set aside.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Stir until well combined. Add the mashed bananas, egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until the mixture is smooth.

Add Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!

Incorporate Mix-Ins: Fold in the chopped walnuts and chocolate chips if using. This adds texture and enhances flavor.

Pour and Level: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and use a spatula to smooth the top.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

Cool and Slice: Allow the blondies to cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 10 minutes. Then, lift them out using the parchment paper overhang (if used) and let them cool completely before slicing into squares.

Enjoy: Serve as a delicious snack or dessert. They are wonderful warm or at room temperature!
