Ingredients

2 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)

3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Juice of 1 lemon

1/2 cup apricot jam (for glaze, optional)

Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Flour (for dusting)

Instructions

Prepare the Apples:

    - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

      - Core the apples and slice them into thin wedges. Take 2 cups of these wedges and place them in a microwave-safe bowl.

        - Squeeze the lemon juice over the apple wedges and add a splash of water. Cover the bowl with a microwave-safe lid or plastic wrap and microwave for about 1-2 minutes, just until the apples are slightly softened and bendable.

          Prepare the Puff Pastry:

            - On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth it out. Cut the puff pastry into about 6 equal strips (approximately 3 inches wide).

              Assemble the Roses:

                - In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon.

                  - Brush each strip of puff pastry with the butter mixture.

                    - Lay the softened apple slices along one edge of the pastry strip, overlapping them slightly (the rounded edges of the slices should extend just over the edge of the pastry).

                      - Fold the bottom half of the pastry strip over the apple slices and gently press down to seal.

                        Form the Roses:

                          - Starting at one end of the pastry strip, carefully roll it up to form a rose shape.

                            - Place each rolled rose into a greased muffin tin, standing upright.

                              Bake the Roses:

                                - Bake the puff pastry roses in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown and puffed.

                                  - If using apricot jam, warm it up slightly and brush it over the apples for a beautiful glaze during the last 5 minutes of baking.

                                    Serve:

                                      - Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.

                                        - Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and enjoy your beautiful Apple Cinnamon Puff Pastry Roses warm or at room temperature!
